Royal Mail Suspends post to USA

Royal Mail has temporarily suspended parcel deliveries to the United States from 26 August 2025. This pause is due to recent changes in U.S. import rules, which have created new customs and tariff requirements. While this is being updated, Royal Mail is stopping parcel shipments for a short period to make sure everything is compliant. Please note that letters and cards are not affected and can still be sent as normal.

From 29 August 2025, the U.S. will introduce new tariffs on parcels valued above $100. Goods sent from the UK will face a 10% tariff, while goods from Europe will be subject to 15%. Personal gifts valued under $100 will continue to be exempt from these charges.

To adapt to these changes, Royal Mail will be introducing a new U.S. parcel service on 28 August 2025. This will allow normal sending to resume, with an added £0.50 handling fee on each parcel that contains items for sale. This fee will not apply to parcels containing personal gifts.

In short, parcel services to the U.S. are paused for a couple of days while the new system is put in place. Services will be back up and running from 28 August 2025 under the updated rules.
