Aberffraw Biscuits
The Traditional Aberffraw Biscuit is said to be Britain's Oldest biscuit
Legend has it that centuries ago a Welsh king was holding court in Aberffraw on Anglesey, North Wales. His wife was walking along the beach and was inspired by a scallop shell. She decided to have a cake baked in its pretty shape.
However, the true origin of the biscuit thought that Welsh pilgrims began pressing shortbread with scallop shells as a symbol of their famous Christian pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in Spain in the 13th Century. We hope you enjoy this taste of history!
