Gemau’r Gogynfeirdd is an anthology of medieval Welsh poetry, edited and published by Arthur Hughes. The title refers to the poets known as the Gogynfeirdd — often translated as “Poets of the Princes”. The “Gogynfeirdd” were active roughly between the 12th and 13th centuries (≈1100–1282), writing for Welsh princely courts before the loss of native Welsh independence. Themes often included praise of Welsh princes, eulogies, elegies, religious poems — sometimes heroic or courtly in tone — following a highly formal bardic tradition.
