A charming and uncommon Welsh religious work, Hanes Eglwys Crist is the Welsh translation of a church history by Rev. C. Barth, D.D., formerly a minister of the Gospel in Möttlingen, Württemberg. Published in London by the Religious Tract Society (founded 1799), this edition was distributed from their historic premises on Paternoster Row and St Paul’s Churchyard—then the heart of the British book trade. This small, devotional volume reflects the 19th-century movement to make theological scholarship accessible to Welsh-speaking readers, and its simple floral woodcut and clean typography give it a quiet period charm. A lovely addition for collectors of early Welsh-language printing, church history, or Religious Tract Society publications.
