This is a novel about an ordinary, contemporary life in Ghana. Abuo, the main character of the story, grew up by the sea in the west of the country, but we follow him on his wanderings throughout the Gold Coast, keeping to the southern regions. Abuo in the novel is an intelligent and determined boy, but barely educated. This story shows his effort to gather information and to cultivate himself, and that in the face of great difficulties.
