Cute little Welsh lady desk / table bell
Jenny is seen here in her full Welsh costume carrying a basket. Lovely detailing 360.

- Cute size - measures approximately 5.7 cms tall, 3.7cm at widest point
Condition: very good - Signs of wear consistent with use and age. I have not deep cleaned it as has a lovely antique patina.
Who Is Jenny Jones?
Jenny was the subject of a popular ballad "Sweet Jenny Jones" from the 1830s to 1860s, which romanticized the story of a Welsh dairymaid and her sailor fiancé. The ballad, which made her an icon of Wales, was written by Charles James Mathews and popularized the idea that she eventually married her sweetheart, Edward Morgan. While the original Jenny Jones may have been from near Mold, the ballad specifically associated her with the town of Llangollen.
