Egg Cup - Welsh Ladies - Hallmarked Silver Rim - Antique (Preloved)

Very unusual egg cup with two hand painted Welsh Ladies going about their day. They seem to be enjoying the surrounding scenery, perhaps after having a nice boiled egg for their breakfasts!

I believe this may have been made in 1912 judging by the hallmarks.

The top of the egg cup is rimmed with hallmarked solid silver - making this an unusual and what would have been a very luxurious item in its day (and indeed still)

The figures are similar to those in Royal Doulton's Welsh Ladies Series Ware, dating back to the 1900's - which makes me wonder if it is part of this series.

• Extremely rare - I haven't come across one quite like it
• Hand painted - the Welsh ladies sketch has a black / grey outline and white gloss paint which has some texture to it.
• Solid silver rim - which is impressively wide
• Hallmarks seem to be a lion, a leopard and an ornate letter r - which my amateur research dates it as 1912
• Also has the Initials DL (quite faded so hard to read) - we think this may be the maker's mark for David Loebl (aka Schlindler & Co.) who are known for their high end silver rimmed porcelain
• A pretty forget-me-not blue and white - reminiscent of Wedgwood
• Feels like fine porcelain - absolutely beautiful 
• Approximate measurements: 6cm tall, diameter 4.4cm at widest point 

Condition: very good

Age related marks and little dents in rim but otherwise wonderful condition considering it may be over 100 years old.
