Grand Lidded Sugar Bowl - Welsh Costumes - Antique Victorian Souvenir

A beautiful and rare 'Welsh Costumes' lidded sugar bowl.

There are many different depictions of Welsh Costumes and rural life in Wales to be collected. The arrival of the railways in the late 19th Century led to the production of souvenir prints, China and postcards.

• A charming Welsh Costumes sugar bowl in a typically grand Victorian shape
• The bowl displays Welsh ladies in traditional costumes on each side and on both sides of the lid - 4 different images in all
• These hard working Welsh women are shown going to market with their wares on their heads and on a horse and then at the market
• Stnads on six legs, with two handles and a handle for the lid
• Victorian - Mid to late 19th century 
  
• Transfer printed and hand painted
• No maker's marks
• Approximate measurements taken at widest points: height: 6.5" / 16.5cm, width: 7" / 18cm

Condition: Good

Good condition for age. Chip on inside of the lid (which cannot be seen from outside). Age related marks and typical crazing. Gold gilding has rubbed off handles. Transfer of text 'Welsh Costumes' has not been applied perfectly on lid which adds to it's charm.  Please view all the pictures carefully.
