A very rare story which is loosely based on old pieces of Welsh poetry dating from the ninth century, known as Canu Heledd. They are centered on Princess Heledd, recounting her sorrow at the tragic loss of her brothers — Cynddylan, Cynan, and Cynwraith — and the destruction of their stronghold, Pengwern, likely during the early medieval conflicts between Powys (a Welsh kingdom) and neighboring Anglo-Saxon powers
