Robert Oliver Rees was a close friend and contemporary of Evan Jones (bardic name Ieuan Gwynedd) and wrote this biography about his life and works in 1876. It also includes 'Adolygiad ar ei Gymeriad a'i Lafur' by Parch. W. Williams.

Ieuan Gwynedd was one of the most fierce defenders of the Welsh character and Nonconformist faith.
