Milk Jug / Creamer - Portmeirion Parian Ware (Preloved)

A romantic Portmeirion jug featuring a sleeping embossed cherub design with an ornate handle. Simple in plain white, but so striking!

Named for its striking likeness to fine Parian marble, this unglazed "bisque" porcelain was able to capture detail of 19th-century moulds—intricacies that otherwise would have been lost or "filled in" by a standard finish.

Infact, as the pieces so flawlessly captured the texture and appearance of 19th-century originals, they became a target for deception in the antique market! Unscrupulous dealers began stripping away the printed Portmeirion backstamps, effectively "scrubbing" the modern provenance so they could pass the items off as authentic Victorian treasures!
