At the heart of the tale lies the mystery of Nansi’s parents' tragic deaths—a secret haunted by the recurring, spectral presence of Alana Lee upon her white stallion. The tribe’s traditional way of life is further upended when Madog, a local landowner, becomes infatuated with Nansi. His "protection" leads to a formal education and marriage, thrusting Nansi into the rigid upper echelons of London society. Yet, the call of her blood remains; a series of inevitable events eventually draws her back to her roots to claim her place as Queen of her people.
