Original Antique Photograph - Solid Oak Frame - Monnow Bridge, Monmouth / Trefynwy (Preloved)

A great gift for someone with associations with Monmouth / Trefynwy in Wales/Cymru, or have you wall space for this lovely original piece of architectural photography? I hope you do!

It depicts the famous Monnow bridge with its medieval architectural gate tower and the river and surrounding buildings. I thing the photographer had a very artistic eye by the way the reflections of the bridge’s three arches have been captured in the water.

The stone bridge was completed in the late 13th Century the date of 1272 has been suggested by some. Monnow Bridge is the only remaining Medieval fortified river bridge in the UK with a gate tower still standing in place. The gate tower’s primary use was for defence, but over the years it was developed into a toll collection point, a jail and even a home!

• An original antique black & white photograph from the 20th Century, perhaps in the 1930’s?
• Framed in a solid dark oak frame which is free of any damage. The original brown backing paper is torn in places.
• The frame itself measures 26.5 x 31.5cm and its depth is 2cm. The actual photo measures 18.5cm by approximately 23.5 cm.
