An incredibly important historical novel portraying the tragic effects of the 1868 General Election on a small, rural community in north Wales. The title translates to "Children of the Oppression". A very rare first edition!

Also includes Rhagymadrodd / introductions by Parch. Evan Jones (this addition has been pasted on to title page after original printing)

Gwyneth Vaughan (pen name of Annie Harriet Hughes (1852–1910)) was one of the most prominent female voices in Welsh literature at the turn of the century. Born in Talsarnau, Merionethshire, she was a prolific novelist, journalist, and a passionate advocate for Women's Rights
