Winner of the Novel award at the 1982 Welsh National Eisteddfod in Swansea.
The story is located in west Dyfed. Rhian comes home from College over the Christmas holidays, and we see the conflict between her and her mother, a fussy, ambitious woman. The story is told through the thoughts of both the daughter and the mother. The news comes that a summer house has been burnt down in the area, and the police immediately suspect Rhian. In the dramatic part that follows we see the effect of the incident on her neurotic mother and her calm father, and on Rhian herself.
