Ribbon Plate - A Present from Rhyl - Vintage Souvenir (Preloved)

A beautiful and rare  souvenir plate.

"A Present from..." is a classic antique souvenir tagline. Before the rise of modern postcards, these small porcelain trinkets and "crested china" were the primary way people brought back physical proof of their holidays.

The "pierced rim" (the lattice-like holes around the edge) was a very popular style for German and British porcelain during the late Victorian and Edwardian periods. Many of these souvenir items were actually made in Germany (the world leader in porcelain production at the time) and imported to British seaside resorts like Rhyl to be sold to tourists.

Rhyl became a massive tourism hub in the late 1800s following the expansion of the railway.

Condition: Excellent

Excellent condition for age. No crazing and illustration is clear and unfaded. Gold detailing is complete with none rubbed off - perhaps almost looks as good as it did new! Tiny hairline scratches near the lattice which would have occurred during the manufacture.
