Gwallter Map (c. 1140–1209) was a medieval author and nobel who wrote in Latin. He is thought to have been either Welsh or of Welsh heritage and to have lived in Ergyng, in Herefordshire. During the Middle Ages this region was Welsh-speaking and had previously been one of the early Welsh kingdoms.
