Griffith Jones, Llanddowror - The father of the "Circulating Schools," which achieved world-leading literacy rates in 18th-century Wales.
Daniel Rowlands, Llangeitho - A leader of the 18th-century Welsh Methodist Revival.
Howel Harris - Also a leader of the 18th-century Welsh Methodist Revival.
William Williams, Pantycelyn - The "Sweet Singer of Wales" and the nation’s greatest hymn writer.
Thomas Charles o'r Bala - A key figure in the Sunday School movement and the founding of the British and Foreign Bible Society.
Christmas Evans - The famous "one-eyed preacher" known for his dramatic, imaginative sermons.
David Jones, Llangan - A prominent evangelical clergyman known for his warmth and influence across denominations.
John Penry, Y Merthyr Cymreig - The "Welsh Martyr" who was executed in 1593; he represents the very beginning of the protest for Welsh religious rights.
It was written by Thomas Levi (1825–1916), one of the most prolific and influential Welsh editors of the 19th century to provide "wholesome," educational, and faith-strengthening reading material to the Welsh people. He wanted to provide a moral compass for the "New Wales" emerging in the late 19th century.

- Rebound in pine green cloth with hand written title a label on the burgundy spine. Perhaps mid century. As the title was hand written this was probably done by an individual or a very small local bindery. Several empty pages at start of the book.

We are proud to offer this book from a notable local collection. Formerly held in the library of a Cynon Valley minister, it represents decades of dedicated collecting of Welsh literature.
Condition: good: good considering over 100 years old. Cover has age related marks. Dust marks to page edges. Previous owner's name in lovely handwriting on front page. Handwritten label has started to peel off spine.
