Tranc y Rheolwr (which translates to The Manager's Demise or The Death of the Manager) is a historically significant book in Welsh-language literature. Published in 1937, it is one of the earliest examples of an authentic, original Welsh detective novel (stori dditectif or stori ddatgelu).
Stephen Owen Tudor was not a gritty crime novelist by trade; he was a highly respected, intellectual Calvinistic Methodist minister. Due of his high standing in the church, he often wrote regular newspaper columns under the pseudonym "Theophilus."
