The Author is a native of Capel Isaac, near Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire. He was educated at the Grammar School, Llandeilo, and the University College, Aberystwyth, where he graduated with honors in the First Class in Welsh, and gained an M.A. degree. for a essay on the Work of Dafydd Llwyd of Mathafarn. There he also won the T. E. Ellis Memorial Award, the Sir John Williams Travel Scholarship and Research Scholarship.
